"Promoting a Culture of Respect for Life Through Suicide Prevention Education"
Ulsan Ulju County announced on the 20th that it will train all county office employees as "Saengmyeongjikimi" (Life Keepers) this year to foster a culture of respecting life.
Saengmyeongjikimi are individuals who pay attention to those at risk of making extreme choices, recognize warning signs, and connect them with relevant institutions to ensure they receive appropriate help.
Previously, the Ulju County Public Health Center trained Saengmyeongjikimi among various groups, including students and faculty members in Ulju County, police officers, firefighters, industrial workers, social welfare facility employees, and management office staff.
Ulju County will provide Saengmyeongjikimi training to all employees, covering topics such as understanding the importance of respecting life, recognizing suicide risk signals, active listening skills, how to seek help from professionals, and guidance on 24-hour counseling services.
Employees who complete the training will participate in Saengmyeongjikimi activities, such as early detection of local residents at risk of making extreme choices and requesting help for them.
An official from the Ulju County Public Health Center said, "We expect that with this Saengmyeongjikimi training, all employees will participate in building a community safety net and contribute to fostering a culture of respecting life."
