Policy Forum Held at the National Assembly on the 26th
"Housing Quality Improvement, Mandatory Post-Construction Sale System Needed"
Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) is joining forces with the National Assembly and civic groups to explore improvements to the housing sales system.
On the 20th, SH Corporation announced that it will hold a policy forum on the 26th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building's main conference room, together with lawmakers Ahn Cheol-soo and Bok Ki-wang, the International Society of Convergence Management, and the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice (CCEJ), to seek directions for improving the domestic housing sales system to enhance housing quality.
At the forum, Oh Jeong-seok, senior researcher at SH Corporation, will present on "A Comparative Study of Housing Sales Systems for Public Housing Innovation," and Professor Kim Seon-joo of Kyonggi University will present on "A Study on Improving the Housing Sales System to Enhance Housing Quality."
Following the presentations, Professor Kwon Il of Korea National University of Transportation will chair a discussion with eight experts from various real estate sectors. The panelists include Son Oh-seong, director of SH Urban Research Institute at SH Corporation; Song Du-han, director of GH Urban Housing Research Institute at Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation; Go Hyun-il, team leader of Construction Business Department at Incheon Urban Corporation; Kim Jong-yeop, senior research fellow at LHRI Land and Housing Research Institute of Korea Land and Housing Corporation; Heo Ji-haeng, director of HUG Housing and Urban Finance Research Institute at Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation; Jo Jeong-heun, chair of the Land and Housing Committee at CCEJ; Kim Kyung-hoon, head of management planning at Yonhap News Economic TV; and Kim Kwang-rim, director of Public Housing Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Prior to the forum, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and lawmakers Seo Beom-su and Jeong Dong-young are scheduled to deliver congratulatory remarks.
Kim Heon-dong, president of SH Corporation, stated, "To regain public trust lost due to various accidents and construction delays in recent years at housing construction sites, public housing providers must take the lead in mandating post-sale systems. SH Corporation will strive to lead housing innovation and the supply of high-quality housing by proposing system improvements to enforce the post-sale obligation for public housing providers based on this trust."
