On the 19th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it was selected as an excellent grade 'Na' in the basic sewerage sector of the '2024 Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 16th.
This management evaluation assessed the management and performance of 95 sewerage public enterprises in basic local governments nationwide, with grades ranging from the highest grade 'Ga' to 'Ma', totaling five grades. Icheon City's sewerage public enterprise received a 'Da' grade in the 2020 and 2022 evaluations, but this year it rose one level to a 'Na' grade.
The city explained that it was highly evaluated for efforts to improve residents' quality of life and promote cooperation and coexistence through ▲ timely expansion of treatment facilities in preparation for increased sewage treatment demand ▲ maintenance of aging sewer pipelines ▲ odor improvement of public sewage treatment facilities ▲ efficient operation of sewage treatment facilities and realization of carbon neutrality through the installation of solar power generation facilities ▲ reduction of sewerage fees for socially vulnerable groups ▲ installation of emergency safety bells in public restrooms.
Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, said, "We will continue to provide citizens with a pleasant living environment through stable sewerage management and expansion of sewage treatment infrastructure," adding, "In particular, we will continue efforts to enable sewerage public enterprises to play a leading role among local public enterprises."
