Women's Scottish Open FR 1-Under Par
Changing the Mood Ahead of Next Week's Final Major
Cochlin's 2nd Win, Kim Arim and Lim Jinhee Tied 18th
Ko Jin-young smoothly completed her warm-up ahead of the final major.
On the 18th (local time), at the Dundonald Links in Ayrshire, Scotland (par 72, 6,584 yards), she added 1 under par in the 4th round of the LPGA Tour ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open (total prize money $2 million) to finish tied for 6th place (7 under par, 281 strokes). This marks her fifth top-10 finish this year since tying for 8th place in the two-player group Dow Championship in June. She has completed her preparations for next week’s final major, the AIG Women’s Open (total prize money $9 million).
Starting in 7th place, 4 strokes behind the leader, Ko Jin-young recorded 4 birdies and 3 bogeys. She exchanged 3 birdies and 3 bogeys over 17 holes, struggling to lower her score, but secured a birdie on the final 18th hole (par 5). Due to strong tailwinds, her average driving distance reached 303 yards. However, she missed the green 6 times and made 29 putts.
Lauren Coughlin (USA) shot 3 under par to claim a commanding 4-stroke victory (15 under par, 273 strokes). This was her second career win just one month after her first victory at the CPKC Women’s Open in Canada last month, earning a winner’s prize of $300,000 (approximately 400 million KRW). Esther Henseleit (Germany), silver medalist at the Paris Olympics, finished as runner-up (11 under par, 277 strokes). Gold medalist Lydia Ko (New Zealand) placed 9th (5 under par, 283 strokes). For Korea, Kim A-rim and Lim Jin-hee tied for 18th place (even par, 288 strokes), while Kim Hyo-joo finished tied for 33rd (4 over par, 292 strokes).
