Jeong Bong-ju, a candidate for the Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said in his final policy speech on the 18th, "If we leave the tiny group of power players as they are, there will be no future for the Democratic Party and it will be difficult to regain power."
On the same day, Jeong made the remarks at the Democratic Party's 1st Regular National Party Members' Convention held at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, stating, "The Democratic Party has a history of fatal damage and defeat caused by factional divisions and power struggles among themselves."
He added, "The internal divisions that occurred right before the presidential election led to our party's defeat. There were traitors who said they would vote for Yoon Seok-yeol rather than see Lee Jae-myung win, and as a result, we lost the last presidential election by a margin of 0.73%," and "As a result, the people are now facing threats to their survival, and the country is in the worst situation of collapse."

As Jeong continued his remarks, some party members jeered and shouted, "Stop it" and "Resign." Earlier, on the 12th, Jeong had said at a press conference, "To win the (presidential) election, we must cut out the cancer within the party that hinders unity, the 'Myeongpali' faction," and "I will root out the group that supports Lee Jae-myung," which drew criticism from party members.
Despite the jeers, Jeong emphasized, "This is a tragedy born from politics of division and cliques. We must never repeat this mistake," and "To regain power, we must abandon self-congratulation and endure the painful process of innovation again and again."
He continued, "That is why Jeong Bong-ju is needed. If you are a Supreme Council member elected by delegates and party members, shouldn't you speak frankly on behalf of the members and the people without hesitation?" He appealed, "If you agree with impeaching Yoon Seok-yeol, if you need a warrior who can fight the People Power Party best, if you believe party unity and innovation are necessary, and if you want the Democratic Party's 4th-term government, please choose the proven fighter, the warrior on the road, Jeong Bong-ju."
