Lee Jae-myung: "We Will Make the Democratic Party a Governing Party... Yoon Administration is Regressing Democracy"

Lee Jae-myung, the candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea, appealed for support on the 18th, saying, "I will make the Democratic Party a definite ruling party of the Republic of Korea, a competent party for the people's livelihood, and a reliable party for the people."

On the same day, at the 1st Regular National Party Members' Convention held at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, Lee said, "Korea is currently facing difficulties. Due to the regime's illegality, injustice, and unfairness, there is regression in all areas including people's livelihood, economy, diplomacy, security, and democracy."

He criticized the government, saying, "The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, an anti-corruption agency, drove conscientious public officials to death while covering up the corruption of the president's wife," and added, "Even when young people who defended the country die unjustly, instead of investigating the truth, they obstruct and even fabricate incidents."

He continued, "Meanwhile, the people's issues of making a living have been thoroughly neglected," emphasizing, "Unjustifiable super-rich tax cuts have caused a serious crisis in the national finances, and while the financial crisis has come, it is making the lives of ordinary people difficult."

Lee said, "The state should protect the lives of its people and give hope, but instead it is sowing despair," and stressed, "We must move forward again as one of the world's top 10 economic powers, a proud cultural powerhouse, and a model democratic country."

He said, "We must restore the halted growth. Being recognized globally as a democratic cultural powerhouse and a continuously growing happy community, the Republic of Korea is by no means a dream," and raised his voice, "If politics stands upright and our Democratic Party does its job properly, we can definitely achieve this."

He added, "Shouldn't we take firm responsibility for a new Korea and a Korea that runs again within the framework of the Democratic Party, hand in hand with comrades? I want to open a new path for a great new country together with party members and comrades."
