On the 30th of last month (local time), the mixed doubles pair Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin, who won the bronze medal in Olympic table tennis, took a selfie on the medal podium with the North Korean pair Ri Jong-sik and Kim Geum-young, who won the silver medal, and the Chinese pair Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, who won the gold medal, using Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Z Flip6. Samsung, a sponsor of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), operated the 'Victory Selfie' program from this tournament, allowing athletes on the podium to take photos together with Galaxy phones.

AFP praised this photo, saying, "The sight of North and South Korean table tennis players taking a 'selfie' together on the podium became a hot topic in Korea and was praised as a rare scene," ranking it as the sixth news story.

Among the top 10 news stories of the 2024 Paris Olympics selected by AFP, the top three were the Seine River parade during the opening ceremony held despite the rain, Novak Djokovic's (Serbia) career Golden Grand Slam achieved by winning the men's singles tennis title, and the scene at the women's floor exercise gymnastics medal ceremony where American Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles honored the gold medalist from Brazil, Rebeca Andrade. However, Jordan Chiles, who was on the podium as the bronze medalist at that time, later had to give the bronze medal to Ana Barbosu (Romania) following a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling.
