‘Seongdong Senior Youth Singing Contest’ Held... Participants Wanted

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) is recruiting participants for the festival of laughter and enjoyment for seniors, the "Seongdong Senior Youth Singing Contest."

Held for the second time following last year, the "Senior Youth Singing Contest" is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the "3rd Seongdong-gu Senior Festival" commemorating Senior Citizens Day (October 2). Preliminary rounds will be held three times from September 2 to September 9. The preliminaries will take place at three local senior welfare centers, and seniors can choose the welfare center they wish to participate in.

Any senior aged 65 or older residing in Seongdong-gu can participate. Those who wish to apply can do so by August 30 at senior welfare centers, community service centers, Seongdong-gu Office, or the Seongdong-gu branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association.

Last year, 90 seniors participated in the singing contest, with 12 senior teams advancing to the finals. This year, 5 to 6 teams that pass the preliminaries will perform on the final stage. Unlike last year, the contest will be held in a non-competitive format without ranking. This allows all participating seniors to perform freely without the pressure of winning awards, creating a festival everyone can enjoy together.

The district plans to upload the preliminary and final performances on the "Seongdong-gu Senior Citizens' Center TV (YouTube channel)" to share with many people.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "I hope many seniors participate in the 'Seongdong Senior Youth Singing Contest' and create joyful memories." He added, "We will continue to make meticulous efforts so that seniors can live long and happy lives in Seongdong-gu."
