On the 17th at 10 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the 'Nowon eSports Festival' held at the gymnasium of Seoul National University of Science and Technology.
The eSports Festival was the first event of its kind held in Nowon District, planned to create a space for empathy and communication among families and to enjoy eSports culture together with the residents.
The competition featured a total of three categories: the national tournament categories were League of Legends (LOL) and FC Online, and the Nowon District student tournament category was Valorant.
After intense battles, the Valorant category was won by ‘Hando Chogwa’, the League of Legends (LOL) category by ‘Jungle One Man’, and the FC Online category by participant Park Jun-woo, who took first place.
In particular, a special moment was held where Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, presented the Nowon District Mayor’s Award to the 1st to 3rd place teams in the Valorant student tournament category.
Also, live coverage was broadcast on the 'Nowon District Office Mi Hong-ssi' YouTube channel. The broadcast was enlivened by the participation of League of Legends streamer Untara (Park Ui-jin) and game creator Jjo Seonsaeng (Park Seong-hoon).
Additionally, at the T1 Academy booth, a popular eSports team, eSports education and career counseling were provided, along with various experiences such as a game OST orchestra performance, drone and robot experiences, and a retro arcade, offering visitors an enjoyable day.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 500 people including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, National Assembly member Woo Won-shik, city council members, district council members, and spectators, proceeding in the order of ▲congratulatory speeches ▲commemorative photos ▲rounding ▲final matches ▲event matches ▲closing ceremony.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “It is very meaningful to hold the eSports Festival within Nowon District,” and added, “We will continue to discover various leisure activities in line with the changing times and create new cultures that residents can enjoy together.”
