The Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival, which heated up the original downtown area of Daejeon and unfolded over nine days, came to a close on the 17th.

On this day, the Jungang-ro area was packed with visitors eager to witness the festival’s finale. The various experience booths, stretching from the Past Zone to the Future Zone, were still bustling with people, and the closing parade saw more than 1,000 participants?including an American bagpipe band, a military band, and citizens?marching in anticipation of next year’s event.

At the special stage on Jungang-ro, where the closing ceremony took place, a grand choral performance was held featuring the Music Association Orchestra, the Village Choir, and the City Choir. The audience joined together to sing songs such as "Butterfly" (from the film Take Off), "Beautiful Country," "Spring in My Hometown," and "Daejeon Blues," reminiscing about the nine-day journey and easing their sense of farewell.

This year’s 0 O'Clock Festival achieved a so-called “three-zero” event, free from safety accidents, litter, and price gouging, thereby not only fulfilling its original goal of revitalizing the local economy but also elevating the city’s brand value.

Additionally, 165 visitors from seven sister and friendship cities?including Binh Duong in Vietnam, Sapporo in Japan, Nanjing in China, and Budapest in Hungary?helped further solidify Daejeon’s status as a global city.

In particular, various content such as the festival’s YouTube teaser video, Instagram Reels, short-form videos, and photos gained popularity, with cumulative views on Daejeon’s official social media channels surpassing 10 million.

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the united efforts of citizens, public officials, organizations, and volunteers over the past nine days, we were able to successfully conclude the 0 O'Clock Festival without any safety accidents or price gouging.”

He added, “Daejeon is a proud pioneer city, ranked first in Asia’s Innovation Index, and surpassing Seoul and Busan to achieve the highest resident satisfaction and city brand reputation. Let us work together to pass on a proud Daejeon?the world’s best city?to our sons and daughters.”
