JTBC's 'Case Captain' reported on the 16th a CCTV video showing a man in his 50s, Mr. A, verbally abusing and cursing his mother in her 80s, who was lying on the floor. In the CCTV footage, Mr. A was even holding a weapon in his hand. He said, "Look carefully, you dogXX," and "I am holding my weapon." Then he shouted, "If you don't die by my hand, you're XX," and "I will kill your kids and your wife."

The video was submitted by Mr. B, Mr. A's brother. He explained, "Mr. A is the second of five siblings," and "Three years ago, he brutally assaulted our mother, but since she did not want to press charges, he was released on probation and has lived estranged since then."

According to Mr. B, Mr. A occupied their elderly mother's house alone in June. The family had installed CCTV cameras throughout the house because their elderly mother was showing symptoms of dementia. Suddenly, Mr. A came to the house and caused a disturbance after seeing the CCTV. Their mother, who was afraid of her second son due to the trauma from the assault three years ago, wanted him to leave, but Mr. A refused to budge and instead repeatedly made disrespectful remarks such as "Since father is dead, mother should die too."

Mr. B and others speculated that the reason Mr. A was acting this way was "to take over the house where mother lives." In fact, Mr. A even changed his registered address to their mother's house. He also tried to take out a mortgage loan using their mother's ID but was caught and stopped by other siblings.

As Mr. A's threats continued, the family admitted their mother to a nursing hospital. Afterwards, Mr. B and his wife went to the house to get their mother's medication but were assaulted by Mr. A. It was also reported that Mr. A went to the home of the eldest brother, who is ill, broke the door with a weapon, and threatened to kill him.

Mr. A claimed, "Despite all the disturbances, I am still not under detention, and the police have not even investigated the perpetrator yet," adding, "I understand there are police officers who are close friends with him. I wonder if the investigation is being deliberately delayed." However, the police explained, "We have not been able to investigate yet due to the victim's schedule, but we plan to start the perpetrator's investigation soon."

Attorney Yang Ji-yeol, who saw this case, expressed regret, saying, "Because Mr. A transferred his resident registration to the mother's house, police separation measures would be meaningless," and added, "They could issue an eviction order through a civil lawsuit, but it takes too long," indicating there is no immediate legal intervention available. Former Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency International Crime Investigation Team Chief Kim Eun-bae added, "If the CCTV evidence is submitted to the police and the victim is interviewed, there is a high possibility that Mr. A will be detained."
