Dongdaemun-gu Railway Issue Response Committee Launched... Tackling Suin-Bundang Line and GTX Route Problems

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) has formed the ‘Dongdaemun-gu Railway Issues Response Committee.’

This is to accelerate the groundwork for becoming the transportation and commercial hub of northeastern Seoul.

On the 7th, the district appointed members of the ‘Dongdaemun-gu Railway Issues Response Committee’ and held the first meeting at the 5th-floor Planning Situation Room of Dongdaemun-gu Office. The committee was established to effectively address essential requirements for Dongdaemun-gu to become the center of northeastern Seoul, including ▲the construction of a single track on the Suin-Bundang Line ▲the promotion of the Cheongnyangni Metropolitan Transfer Center ▲and issues related to the GTX-B and GTX-C lines. The committee consists of a total of 21 members: 15 external members such as professors and experts in the railway field, and 6 internal members.

At the appointment ceremony, Mayor Ilpyeong Lee personally presented appointment letters to the new members. The mayor stated, “The role of the committee members is very important in wisely and effectively resolving various railway issues, including the construction of a single track on the Suin-Bundang Line,” and added, “I hope you actively discuss to strengthen Dongdaemun-gu’s competitiveness.”

Following the appointment ceremony, the first meeting discussed explanations and response plans regarding the construction of a single-track railway between Wangsimni and Cheongnyangni stations on the Suin-Bundang Line, and issues related to the GTX-B and GTX-C lines.

At the site, various opinions were presented, including the need for solidarity with other regions regarding the expansion of the single track on the Suin-Bundang Line, active requests for relocation of substations related to the GTX-B and GTX-C lines, and the necessity for specific guidelines on role division for issue response.

A district official stated, “We plan to actively propose the opinions raised by the committee to related organizations.”
