The international housing welfare nonprofit organization Korea Habitat and singer Sean successfully concluded the '2024 815 Run' (815 Run) in celebration of Liberation Day, raising a total of over 1.3 billion KRW in donations.

The '815 Run' campaign is an initiative to reflect on the significance of Liberation Day and express gratitude to the descendants of independence activists. It is a donation marathon where all participation fees are used for improving the housing environment of independence activists' descendants. This year, it attracted a record-breaking 16,300 participants.

Sean, the campaign ambassador, completed the 81.5 km run in 7 hours, 51 minutes, and 59 seconds despite the intense heat. Former national football players Lee Young-pyo and Cho Won-hee from the running crew 'Unknown Crew,' actor and singer Im Si-wan, actress Yoon Se-a, and Lim Se-mi also participated to lend their support.

Sean said, "The reason I run 81.5 km every year is to give my best to the independence fighters who devoted everything for our country," adding, "This year, the largest number of people participated in the 815 Run, and I thank all the participants who showed an endless wave of Taegeukgi flags."

The approximately 1.32657 billion KRW raised from donations by 55 sponsoring companies and participation fees from individual runners will be used to provide comfortable and safe homes for the descendants of independence activists.

Yoon Hyung-joo, director of Korea Habitat, expressed gratitude to the participants, saying, "Although the sacrifices of the independence activists led to the liberation of our homeland, the living conditions of their descendants are very poor. We are happy to be able to build homes for them through the 815 Run event, and all of this is thanks to you."
