Ulsan Office of Education Announces 72 Final Successful Candidates for Local Government Official Recruitment Exam

Announcement of 61 Successful Candidates in Educational Administration, 4 in Facilities

51 Women (70.8%) and 13.9% Over 40s

Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsu) announced the final list of 72 successful candidates for the 2024 First Local Government Officials Recruitment Examination on its website at 10 a.m. on the 16th.

The successful candidates by category are as follows: 56 for General Educational Administration, 3 for Educational Administration (Disability), 2 for Educational Administration (Low Income), 2 for Health, 1 for Environment (General Environment), 3 for Facilities (Architecture), 1 for Facilities (General Civil Engineering), 2 for Industry (General Machinery), and 2 for Food Sanitation.

The gender distribution shows 51 women (70.8%) and 21 men (29.2%), with the proportion of female candidates being more than twice that of males. In the General Educational Administration category, since the gender equality recruitment target was not met, 7 additional male candidates were accepted.

Notably, the Ulsan Office of Education hired 3 disabled officials, exceeding the newly raised mandatory employment rate for people with disabilities of 3.8% starting from 2024.

The average age of the successful candidates is 29.9 years. By age group: 42 are in their 20s (58.3%), 20 are in their 30s (27.8%), 9 are in their 40s (12.5%), and 1 is in their 50s (1.4%), with the majority being in their 20s.

This year, the proportion of successful candidates aged 40 or older in the local government officials recruitment exam reached 13.9%, a 4.1 percentage point increase from last year.

This is analyzed to be due to the increase in applications from candidates aged 40 and above, in line with the Ministry of Personnel Management's announcement in November last year to reform the Grade 9 civil service exam to a job suitability-based system starting in 2025. In fact, the application rate for candidates aged 40 and above was 27.8% this year, up 5.4 percentage points from 22.4% last year.

Successful candidates must register as new appointee candidates by the 26th. Afterwards, they will attend a two-week training course for new appointee candidates at the Ulsan Education Training Institute starting October 7, and will be appointed in order of the candidate list from January 2025.

Along with the announcement of the final successful candidates for the local government officials recruitment exam, the Ulsan Office of Education also released the schedule, location, and important notes for the second local government officials recruitment (Outstanding Talent Trainee Selection) written exam for graduates (or expected graduates) of commercial high schools.

Detailed information about the exam can be found in the announcement on the 'Exam Notice' section of the Ulsan Office of Education website.
