Naver Cloud announced on the 16th that it has been consecutively selected for support projects related to super-large artificial intelligence (AI) organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the National Information Society Agency (NIA), and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
The government is promoting super-large AI-related projects that can be freely used by both public and private sectors. Naver Cloud was selected for NIA's '2024 Super-large AI-based Service Development Support Project' and '2024 Super-large AI Platform Utilization Support Project,' as well as NIPA's '2024 Super-large AI-based Academic Activity Support Project,' and plans to support super-large AI-related projects.
The 2024 Super-large AI-based Service Development Support Project aims to accelerate AI utilization in the public sector and realize the Digital Platform Government. Eight tasks were selected across three categories: public general, public specialized, and issue resolution, to foster AI utilization services in various public fields.
Naver Cloud participates in three tasks: in the public general category, ▲Super-large AI-based Integrated Research and Development Support Service (Social Science Korea, SSHRC) and ▲Smart Fire Safety Service (Seoul Fire & Disaster Headquarters); and in the public specialized category, ▲Youth Farmer Specialized Service (Rural Development Administration).
To develop the super-large AI-based integrated research and development support service in the public general category, Naver Cloud will support linking the high-quality data held by the demand institution, Social Science Korea (SSHRC), with the HyperCLOVA X-based super-large AI platform.
Additionally, together with the Seoul Fire & Disaster Headquarters, AI will assist firefighters by analyzing architectural blueprints to improve work efficiency and expertise, while enabling citizens to easily check necessary fire safety facilities for inspected buildings. Furthermore, in the public specialized category task of Youth Farmer Specialized Service, Naver Cloud will help develop a rural life support system for young farmers by linking agricultural data from the Rural Development Administration with HyperCLOVA X.
Alongside this, Naver Cloud was selected as a supplier company for NIA's 2024 Super-large AI Platform Utilization Support Project, which supports and manages tasks to overcome AI business limitations of public institutions and private companies using the super-large AI platform. A total of 36 demand institutions chose Naver Cloud, which will provide customized in-depth consulting, PoC (Proof of Concept), and optimization enhancement reflecting the characteristics of the demand institutions.
The 2024 Super-large AI-based Academic Activity Support Project is part of the Super-large AI Flagship Project Support Program, operated by NIPA as the dedicated agency, aimed at spreading AI normalization in the private sector.
Naver Cloud was selected for this academic activity support project together with the consortium leader VitaSoft, an AI software specialist company, Metrix, a company specializing in AI training data construction, Hallym University Hallym Academy of Sciences, and Inha University Korean Studies Institute.
The consortium institutions will support AI infrastructure, algorithm and solution development, data processing and training, and service platform development respectively until 2025, with Naver Cloud responsible for HyperCLOVA X, cloud infrastructure, and technical support.
Lee In-seong, leader of Naver Cloud's public projects, stated, "Based on high-level technology and infrastructure, we will take the lead in developing and introducing super-large AI services in the public sector."
