Incheon Line 1 Geomdan Extension Electrical Work 70% Complete... Opening Scheduled for First Half of Next Year

Incheon City announced on the 16th that the electrical work progress rate for the extension of Incheon Subway Line 1 to Geomdan is at 70.51%, and the project is proceeding smoothly with the goal of opening in the first half of next year.

Recently, the city completed power reception at Ara Station (Station 101) and Geomdan Hosu Park Station (Station 103) on the Geomdan extension line from the Bulo Substation of Korea Electric Power Corporation.

Currently, efforts are being accelerated on electrical work to supply power to various lighting and heating systems inside the main tunnel and three stations, as well as convenience facilities such as ventilation systems, air conditioning equipment, and elevators.

The electrical work for the Geomdan extension line is divided into power reception line work, catenary line work that converts the received power to supply the electricity (DC 1500V) necessary for train operation, station electrical work that supplies electricity to all facilities inside the main tunnel and stations, and the construction of power control facilities that remotely monitor and control major equipment in the station electrical rooms.

In particular, by connecting two power reception lines from Korea Electric Power Corporation and the power network between station substations, a dual electrical supply system will be established to ensure that train operations are not disrupted even if a specific substation experiences an abnormality.

The city plans to complete all electrical work this year and conduct facility verification tests and commercial trial runs jointly with Incheon Transit Corporation.

The Geomdan extension line is a project that extends the terminus of Incheon Line 1 from Gyeyang Station to Geomdan New Town by 6.825 km and constructs three new stations, with a total project cost of 727.7 billion KRW. Once opened in the first half of next year, it is expected to effectively handle transportation demand in northern Incheon and alleviate road congestion.

An official from Incheon City stated, "Since the electrical sector is an essential facility like the heart that supplies power to all facilities, we will prioritize safety and quality above all to ensure there are no setbacks for the opening next year."
