Guro-gu Signs Business Agreement for Recycling Mowing Byproducts in Parks, Green Spaces, and Rivers
Agreement Aims to Reduce Waste Disposal Costs and Promote Mutual Growth by Supporting Disability Independence
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) signed a business agreement on the 9th at the Renaissance Hall of the district office with the Seoul Metropolitan City Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, Guro-gu branch, to recycle mowing byproducts from parks, green spaces, and rivers.
This agreement aims to recycle the annually increasing mowing byproducts from parks, green spaces, and rivers as livestock feed for a self-reliant farm for persons with disabilities, thereby reducing the district's waste disposal budget while promoting mutual growth through support for disability workplaces.
According to the agreement, for three years from the signing date, about 350 tons of mowing byproducts generated annually from mountains, rivers, and parks managed by Guro-gu will be sent to the self-reliant farm for persons with disabilities, 'Haetteul Farm,' located in Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Haetteul Farm, situated on a site of 35,000 pyeong, will be able to save about 10 million KRW annually on hay purchase costs necessary for livestock raising.
Mayor Moon Heon-il said, "This agreement is especially meaningful as Guro-gu will practice walking together with socially vulnerable groups, a value beyond budget savings," and added, "We will continue to actively discover areas where we can coexist with socially vulnerable groups to realize 'Warm Companionship, Changing Guro.'"
