Mangwon Youth Culture Center 'Haechannarae' Wins Grand Prize, Mapo Youth Culture House 'Hanppyeom' Receives Excellence Award
'Haechannarae' Selected as One of the Top 5 Youth Operation Committees, the Only Grand Prize Winner Among Seoul Districts
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) announced that the Mapo-gu Youth Cultural Center Youth Operating Committee achieved great success by receiving the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award (Grand Prize) and the Korea Youth Activity Promotion Agency Chairman Award (Excellence Award) in the '2024 National Excellent Youth Operating Committee Evaluation.'
The Youth Operating Committee honored with the Minister's Award is ‘Haechannarae’ from Mangwon Youth Cultural Center, and the Chairman's Award was received by ‘Hanppyeom’ from Mapo Youth Cultural Center.
This evaluation, hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and organized by the Korea Youth Training Facilities, was conducted targeting youth operating committees active in youth facilities nationwide.
Through the first round of document evaluation, 36 youth operating committees were selected, and in the second round of presentation evaluation, the top five youth operating committees, including ‘Haechannarae,’ were honored with the grand prize list.
Notably, in this evaluation, ‘Haechannarae’ was the only youth operating committee from Seoul's autonomous districts to receive the grand prize, having also been selected as an excellent youth operating committee in 2019 and 2021.
‘Haechannarae’ led community development and improvement of youth living environments by proposing policies on environment and culture at the ‘Mangwon 2-dong Communication Day with the Mayor,’ signing an agreement with Mapo-gu Seogang Library to improve book spaces, and conducting the youth health promotion project ‘O.Un.Wan Challenge.’
‘Hanppyeom’ also widely promoted the excellence of youth facilities and Mapo-gu through various activities such as operating and managing exclusive spaces for local residents, a reading challenge, and hosting the summer vacation event ‘Summer Tatata.’
The awards ceremony and presentation of the best operating cases are scheduled to take place on August 19 at the International Youth Center Youth Hostel.
Mapo-gu operates the ‘Mapo-gu Children and Youth Council’ and the youth debate forum ‘Future Yeoreum’ to promote active lives and self-realization among youth. Additionally, it leads the enhancement of youth cultural enjoyment through projects such as the ‘Mapo-gu-Gochang County Youth Exchange Cooperation Project’ and the ‘Youth Musical Group Project.’
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “I am very pleased that the activities planned and promoted by youth, the future leaders, themselves to create a better society have resulted in remarkable achievements,” and added, “We hope the youth operating committees will continue to develop further, and Mapo-gu will actively support and encourage youth activities.”
