First Gathering of Chairs from 17 Metropolitan and Provincial Councils Since Speaker's Inauguration... Joint Discussion on Local Council Issues Including Visit to National Cemetery
Choi Hojung, Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, attended the regular meeting of the Korea Council of Chairs of Metropolitan Councils, where chairpersons of 17 metropolitan councils gathered in one place for the first time since her inauguration, on the 13th.
At the regular meeting held in Daejeon, various local council issues, including the enactment of the Local Council Act, were discussed. On the morning of the 14th, a visit to the Daejeon National Cemetery was conducted.
Chairperson Choi said, “For the development of local councils and local autonomy, the 17 metropolitan councils will unite their intentions and respond together,” adding, “Especially, we will join forces to ensure that the ‘Local Council Act’ is enacted during this 19th Council of Chairs.”
The Korea Council of Chairs of Metropolitan Councils is a consultative body composed of chairpersons of 17 metropolitan councils nationwide. It leads the development of local autonomy by promoting mutual exchange and cooperation regarding the operation of local councils, and jointly working to improve unreasonable laws and systems.
At this regular meeting, An Seongmin, Chairperson of the Busan Metropolitan Council, was elected as the first half president of the 19th Korea Council of Chairs of Metropolitan Councils.
