Paris Olympics '1-Point Archer' Chad Archery Athlete, Invitation to Korea Planned for Next Year

The city of Gwangju announced plans to invite the archer from Chad, who scored 1 point against gold medalist Kim Woo-jin in the men's individual archery event at the Paris Olympics, to the World Archery Championships to be held in Gwangju next September.

According to Gwangju city on the 15th, the city decided to promote an invitation plan for Chad's archer Israel Madaye (36) to the 2025 World Archery Championships.


The city plans to contact Paivix, which promised equipment sponsorship to Madaye so that he can participate in the 2028 Los Angeles (LA) Olympics, to inquire about his intention to participate.


Madaye, representing Chad, a landlocked country in north-central Africa, competed in the Olympics and faced Kim Woo-jin in the round of 64 in the men's individual event, shooting 1 point with the last arrow of the 2nd set.


His social media accounts were flooded with support from domestic fans.


Korean archery equipment company Paivix decided to provide Madaye with equipment and supplies such as a bow, chest guard, and stabilizer.


A Gwangju city official said, "We will check the willingness to invite '1-point archer' Madaye through corporate sponsorship," and added, "We will also consider proposing the invitation of athletes from underdeveloped countries to domestic archery equipment manufacturers."
