At 2 p.m. on the 14th in Gadeokdodong, Explanation of Land Use Plan Reflecting Revised Layout Plan
'Gadeokdo Airport Complex City Development Project' ... Addressing Local Residents' Questions and Gathering Opinions
On June 14 at 2 p.m., the city of Busan held a resident briefing session on the 'Gadeokdo Airport Complex City Development Project' at the Gadeokdo-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Gangseo-gu for local residents.
This resident briefing session was organized to explain the current progress and future plans of the 'Gadeokdo Airport Complex City Development Project' to the local community.
The city completed the basic concept study in 2022 and has been conducting a study for the designation and development plan of the Gadeokdo Airport Complex City Free Economic Zone since May 2023.
On this day, the city explained to residents the newly established land use plan, which reflects the revised layout plan of the Gadeokdo New Airport.
In the 2022 basic concept study, the development plan was envisioned for four districts (Nulcha, Dumun, Cheonseong, and Daehang) covering approximately 9 million square meters.
▲Nulcha (4.47 million m², airport support functions focused on residential, commercial, and international business) ▲Dumun (920,000 m², renewable energy hub complex)
▲Cheonseong (520,000 m², tourism and leisure hub utilizing natural scenery) ▲Daehang (3.09 million m², aviation logistics complex)
However, as the layout of the Gadeokdo New Airport was changed from offshore to Daehang-dong in August 2023, the city reviewed the logistics facility placement in the Daehang district from the original plan and newly devised a plan to strengthen the functions of tourism and leisure facilities.
The new plan covers three districts (Nulcha, Dumun, Cheonseong) with a total area of about 9.89 million square meters, expanding the logistics facilities in the Nulcha district and increasing the insufficient tourism and leisure facilities in the Cheonseong district from the previous plan.
▲Nulcha (7.7 million m², airport support functions focused on residential, commercial, international business, and logistics) ▲Dumun (560,000 m², renewable energy hub complex) ▲Cheonseong (1.63 million m², tourism and leisure hub utilizing natural scenery)
Going forward, the city plans to complete the related administrative procedures and, based on the newly established land use plan, apply for designation as a free economic zone to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy by the end of this year.
Cho Youngtae, head of the city's New Airport Promotion Headquarters, said, "Through this resident briefing session, we were able to resolve local residents' questions about the 'Gadeokdo Airport Complex City Development Project' and listen to their opinions. Our city will continue to steadily pursue the project so that the Gadeokdo Airport Complex City, together with the Gadeokdo New Airport, serves as an important cornerstone for Busan to become a global hub city and a growth engine for the southern region's economy."
