Sugar Blood Alcohol Concentration 0.227%
Riding an Electric Scooter from the Studio Heading Home
CCTV footage from the time of the accident involving BTS member Suga (31, real name Min Yoon-gi), who is accused of riding an electric scooter while intoxicated, has been released.
The CCTV footage released by Dong-A Ilbo and others on the 14th shows Suga losing his balance and falling while turning toward the entrance in front of the main gate of Nine One Hannam, his residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at around 11:10 p.m. on the 6th. At the time, Suga was riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk when he fell.
Three police riot officers patrolling nearby saw this and approached Suga. During this process, they confirmed Suga’s intoxication and conducted a breathalyzer test. Suga’s blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.227%, exceeding the license cancellation threshold (0.08%). When the blood alcohol concentration exceeds 0.2%, enhanced penalties apply, and if convicted, the sentence can be 2 to 5 years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
On the same day, around 9 p.m., Suga drank alcohol while dining with acquaintances at a restaurant near Hannam Five-way Intersection in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, then moved together to a nearby private studio where he drank more. Around 11 p.m., he rode the scooter from the studio to return home. The studio was about 500 meters away from Nine One Hannam.
When found by the police, Suga reportedly stated that he "had one beer and drove briefly." The Yongsan Police Station plans to summon him soon to investigate the circumstances and amount of alcohol consumed.
Meanwhile, Suga is currently serving as a social service agent. His discharge date is June 2025.
