WYSIWYG Studio "First Half Structural Improvement... Expecting Performance Rebound in Second Half"

The comprehensive media content production group WYSIWYG Studio (hereinafter WYSIWYG) announced that it recorded consolidated sales of 23.9 billion KRW, an operating loss of 8.5 billion KRW, and a net loss of 16.5 billion KRW in the first half of this year. During the same period, on a separate basis, it recorded sales of 4.8 billion KRW, an operating loss of 1.3 billion KRW, and a net loss of 5.6 billion KRW.


A company official stated, “Despite the challenging internal and external environment, the WYSIWYG group has achieved significant reductions in losses compared to the previous period on both consolidated and separate bases through cost and workforce operation efficiencies. In the second half, as major drama projects get underway, sales are expected to increase significantly and performance to improve.”


In the first half of the year, WYSIWYG showcased highly popular entertainment content including Disney Plus’s original series ‘Killerdeul-ui Shopping Mall’ (Killer’s Shopping Mall), which ranked number one just one day after its release, as well as Channel A’s ‘Dosi Eobu’ (Urban Fishermen) and ENA’s ‘Nae Gwie Dinggok’ (My Ear’s Ting Song). The company also reaffirmed its production capabilities across various media genres such as the musical ‘Sarangeui Bulsichak’ (Crash Landing on You). ‘Killerdeul-ui Shopping Mall’ continues its popularity mainly in the Asia-Pacific region, and discussions for season 2 are underway amid high viewer interest.


In the second half, WYSIWYG group is producing and presenting major drama projects including ▲MBC’s ‘Baeksulgongju-ege Jugeumeul - Black Out’ (Death to Snow White - Black Out) scheduled to air in August, ▲SBS’s ‘Bomeulseom’ (Treasure Island) starring actor Park Hyung-sik, ▲‘Salon de Holmes’ starring actress Lee Si-young, and ▲SBS’s ‘Samagwi’ (Praying Mantis) starring actors Go Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon, expecting notable achievements.


Additionally, the company plans to focus on film production and distribution. In the third quarter, it plans to release ▲’Hanguk-i Sils-eoseo’ (Because I Hate Korea) starring Go Ah-sung, as well as various K-content across genres including ▲‘Interview’ starring Cho Yeo-jeong and Jung Sung-il, and the sci-fi emotional masterpiece ▲’Wang-eul Chajaseo’ (In Search of the King) starring Koo Kyo-hwan. Moreover, WYSIWYG is participating in diverse performance and exhibition projects such as ▲‘The Moonwalkers’ exhibition, an immersive exhibition journey with Hollywood star Tom Hanks at the Lightroom immersive exhibition space, and ▲‘The Great Gatsby,’ a K-musical currently enjoying great popularity on Broadway, aiming to maximize synergy between its existing production division and new media business areas.


A WYSIWYG Studio official said, “WYSIWYG has established a value chain capable of producing online and offline content ranging from movies, dramas, animations, to new media performances and exhibitions based on Korea’s top-tier CG/VFX core technologies. In the second half, we will produce various K-content works such as dramas and entertainment shows, secure lineups based on our content and management capabilities to grow our scale, and focus on operational efficiency to ensure continued performance improvement.”
