Incheon City has applied to host the '2025 World Korean Business Convention,' and on the 13th, the World-OKTA, the event's organizing body, conducted an on-site inspection of the candidate venue.
The World-OKTA is an overseas Korean business organization with approximately 7,000 regular members and over 30,000 next-generation members across 148 chapters in 70 countries. It has been active in promoting the economic development of the homeland, enhancing trade, and fostering an economic community among Koreans worldwide.
This on-site inspection was an important procedure to evaluate Incheon City's preparedness and the feasibility of successfully hosting the event. A four-member inspection team visited the scheduled venue, Songdo Convensia. They attended Incheon City's event hosting proposal briefing and examined the on-site facilities, infrastructure, accommodation, transportation networks, and surrounding environment.
According to city officials, the team expressed positive feedback, highly appreciating Incheon's excellent international accessibility, Songdo International City's cutting-edge infrastructure, and abundant event experience, deeming Incheon suitable as a host city for large-scale international events.
Incheon City has built a special economic network with the World-OKTA. In April, Incheon participated in the World Korean Business Representatives Convention held in Yesan, Chungnam, where they identified domestic investment interest areas and discussed expanding exports and imports between Korean companies and local businesses.
Additionally, in May, Incheon signed an MOU with the World-OKTA to promote economic exchange cooperation and expand investment attraction, and last month, hosted the next-generation overseas Korean trade school event in Incheon.
An Incheon City official stated, "By hosting the World Korean Business Convention, we aim to elevate Incheon's international status and utilize the Korean business network to activate exports of Incheon companies. We will do our best to ensure the successful hosting of the event to invigorate the local economy, including attracting domestic and international tourists."
Meanwhile, the host city for the 2025 World Korean Business Convention will be decided within this month through an internal review by the World-OKTA, with the official announcement scheduled at the closing ceremony of this year's convention held in Vienna, Austria, in October.
