Anapass is showing strong performance. It is interpreted that this is influenced by the news that Samsung Electronics will collaborate with GCT Semiconductor, an affiliate of Anapass, to develop 4G and 5G chipset modules.
As of 9:29 AM on the 14th, Anapass is trading at 20,350 KRW, up 4.36% compared to the previous day.
According to industry sources, the day before, GCT signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Samsung Electronics to cooperate in the development and supply of 4G and 5G chipsets and modules. Samsung Electronics will target the global telecommunications market by collaborating with GCT, which possesses telecommunications semiconductor technology. They will provide the testing environment necessary for GCT's chipset certification and jointly promote both companies' solutions. They are also seeking participation in projects of global telecommunications operators, including Aramco.
Previously, GCT had formed a strategic partnership with Aramco to strengthen the 4G and 5G ecosystem. They agreed to promote Saudi Arabia's digital telephony through 4G and 5G networks and support mission-critical services, which are essential for industrial 5G.
Meanwhile, GCT is an affiliate of Anapass, a semiconductor company specializing in display semiconductors. CEO Lee Kyung-ho, who founded Anapass, started the company in the United States in 1998. They design telecommunications semiconductors and have collaborated with global telecommunications operators such as T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T.
