Man in his 60s Complains About Parked Cars in Residential Area
Damages Vehicles by Hitting with Water Bottle and Kicking Doors
Removes Wiper from Adjacent Car to Attack Front Windshield
A man who suddenly damaged parked vehicles while intoxicated was arrested by the police. On the 13th, the National Police Agency's YouTube channel posted a video titled "Wiper? Smash it! Car window? Break it!"
According to the video, on June 19th at around 8:44 PM, a man in his 60s, Mr. A, appeared in a quiet residential area in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, and approached a parked passenger car while staring at it intently. Mr. A seemed to have some issue with the vehicle as he looked around it, then grabbed a large water container nearby and started hitting the car's front windshield and bumper recklessly.
Mr. A indiscriminately attacked the vehicle for a while, then removed something with his hand and kicked the driver's side door. Repeating such actions, he eventually took a wiper off a truck parked next to the car. Using the wiper, Mr. A repeatedly struck the front windshield of the passenger car, causing it to crack completely. A representative from the Michuhol Police Station in Incheon said, "He damaged the vehicle by striking it overall with the wiper, and the damage to the front windshield was especially severe."
While Mr. A was engrossed in damaging the vehicle, a citizen appeared and informed the car owner of the damage and reported it to the police. According to the police, witnesses testified in a state of fear that "the person sitting there damaged the vehicle." When the police arrived after receiving the report, Mr. A was still holding the vehicle wiper and looking for another car to damage. Additionally, he showed aggressive and uncooperative behavior during the arrest process. The investigation revealed that Mr. A committed the crime while intoxicated, expressing dissatisfaction by saying, "Why did you park like this?" The police charged Mr. A with special property damage for damaging two vehicles and sent him to the prosecution.
