"Mandatory Disclosure of Delivery Platform Fees Needed"...Discussion on Win-Win Measures

On the 13th, it was announced that the second meeting of the win-win consultative body between delivery platforms and tenant businesses was held to resolve the issue of delivery fee commissions and to discuss measures to revitalize public delivery apps.

The meeting was attended by the three major delivery apps Baedal Minjok, Coupang Eats, and Yogiyo, as well as the fourth-ranked industry player, Shinhan Bank's public delivery app Ttaenggyeoyo. On the tenant business side, representatives from the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise, Korea Foodservice Industry Association, National Franchise Owners Association, and National Merchants Federation participated. Four public interest commissioners composed of professors and experts, along with government officials from the Fair Trade Commission, Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Ministry of SMEs and Startups, also attended as special commissioners.

Representing public delivery apps, Ttaenggyeoyo requested multifaceted support measures, including ways to attract consumers to public delivery apps.

Ttaenggyeoyo stated, "Since the commission rate of public delivery apps is very low, revitalizing public delivery apps can alleviate the commission burden on tenant businesses and contribute to the long-term stabilization of the delivery platform market," and requested, "Please expand institutional measures to enhance commission transparency, such as mandating the disclosure of delivery platform commissions."

At the meeting, topics such as easing burdens including commissions, enhancing transparency, improving unfair practices, and establishing a sustainable communication system were proposed as future discussion subjects. The participants plan to actively exchange opinions between delivery platforms and tenant businesses on the selected topics at the next third meeting.
