As Part of UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassador Activities
Donates 1 Million Dollars to Support Youth
Group Seventeen is launching a global youth support program in collaboration with UNESCO.
On the 13th, their agency Pledis Entertainment announced that Seventeen began recruiting participants for the Global Youth Grant Scheme on the previous day, in celebration of 'International Youth Day.'
The Global Youth Grant Scheme is a program that provides funding to carry out various projects dreaming of a better future, along with capacity building and mentoring.
Seventeen pledged to donate 1 million dollars (approximately 1.37 billion KRW) for this purpose at the UNESCO Youth Ambassador appointment ceremony held in Paris, France, last June.
As part of this, Seventeen and UNESCO launched a new program called 'Going Together - For Youth Creativity & Well-Being.'
Through this program, Seventeen supports projects that enhance youth confidence and resilience through music, arts, and sports, develop creative youth communities, and improve youth mental health.
The members expressed their support in a video introducing the Global Youth Grant Scheme posted on UNESCO's official YouTube channel, saying, "As UNESCO Youth Ambassadors, we are proud to announce the launch of a program for youth worldwide," and "Seventeen will be by your side. We will go together toward your dreams."
Seventeen has continuously promoted the importance of education worldwide through steady collaboration with UNESCO. Since being appointed as the first K-pop artists and UNESCO's first Youth Ambassadors, they were assigned a special session at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris last November, where they delivered a speech and performance for about an hour.
