Exhibition of Artworks Made from Recycled Toy Plastics Held
Six Types of Marine Life Created with Recycled Plastics on Display
Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsu) and the Ulsan Climate Crisis Response Education Center will hold a 'Toy Waste Plastic Art Exhibition' at the center's Environmental Practice Hall from the 13th until the 8th of next month.
The Ulsan Office of Education, in collaboration with the local social enterprise Kokkiri Gongjang, organized this exhibition to raise awareness about the seriousness of the climate crisis among elementary, middle, and high school students, their parents, and the general public in Ulsan.
The exhibition, themed 'Marine Ecosystems Suffering from Plastic Pollution,' will showcase six types of marine animals such as humpback whales, sea turtles, and penguins, all made from waste toy plastics. A video about recycling toy plastics will also be screened.
The six displayed marine animals were created using over 900 toy plastic pieces, with the largest reaching up to 1.2 meters in height. They were made from donated toys that are no longer used or are broken.
A center official stated, "Through this exhibition, we aim to inform people about the impact of plastic waste on marine ecosystems and the dangers of microplastics to humans. We hope this will serve as an opportunity for everyone to build a consensus on environmental issues and seek various solutions together for a sustainable future."
