Hwaseong City "Achieves Recruitment of 1,000 Members for National Sports Festival Citizen Promotion Team"

Volunteer Activities at the 2027 National Sports Festival

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that the 'Hwaseong City National Sports Festival Citizen Promotion Group,' which will carry out volunteer activities for the National Sports Festival to be held in 2027, has exceeded 1,000 members.

Earlier, Hwaseong City was selected in April as the main host city for the 108th National Sports Festival and the 47th National Para Sports Festival, both to be held in Gyeonggi Province in 2027.

Accordingly, the city has been recruiting members for the Citizen Promotion Group since the end of June to ensure the successful hosting of the event and citizen participation. The Citizen Promotion Group will participate as volunteers in activities such as event promotion, guidance, cheering, and environmental cleanup, starting with the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival and the Gyeonggi Province Sports for All Festival next year, followed by the 2027 National Sports Festival, the 2028 Youth Sports Festival, and the 2029 Sports for All Festival.

The city plans to continue recruiting members for the Citizen Promotion Group until next month and hold an inauguration ceremony in October.

Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "The 2027 National Sports Festival is the first event hosted by Hwaseong City as the main host city and the first time in 16 years that the festival will be held in Gyeonggi Province. We will make thorough preparations to host a festival where domestic athletes can unite and come together."
