KOSPI Turns Down Amid Increased Net Selling by Institutions

The KOSPI, which started on an upward trend, turned downward due to a reduction in net buying by foreigners and an increase in net selling by institutions.


As of 9:40 a.m. on the 13th, the KOSPI recorded 2,610.94, down 7.36 points (0.28%) from the previous trading day.


On this day, the KOSPI opened at 2,624.50, up 0.24% from the previous trading day. However, it turned downward as foreigners reduced their net buying and institutions expanded their net selling.


By investor type, individuals and institutions net sold 13.1 billion KRW and 33.5 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, foreigners net bought 88.2 billion KRW.


By sector, insurance, food and beverages, transportation and warehousing, telecommunications, and electrical and electronics showed slight gains. On the other hand, precision medical equipment fell 2.47%, and pharmaceuticals, construction, steel and metals, and chemicals dropped more than 1%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics traded at 76,000 KRW, up 500 KRW (0.66%) from the previous trading day. SK Hynix also rose 1.69%. Conversely, Celltrion and Samsung SDI fell more than 2%, while Samsung Biologics, POSCO Holdings, and NAVER declined more than 1%.


The KOSDAQ recorded 760.17, down 12.55 points (1.62%).


By investor type, individuals net bought 103.8 billion KRW. In contrast, institutions and foreigners net sold 70.7 billion KRW and 28.9 billion KRW respectively.


By sector, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and general electrical and electronics fell more than 1%. Meanwhile, transportation showed a slight upward trend.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Ecopro BM traded at 176,100 KRW, down 3,900 KRW (2.17%) from the previous trading day. Celltrion Pharm fell 5.35%, Alteogen, Samchundang Pharm, and Silicon Two dropped more than 3%, and Enchem, Rigachem Bio, and Classys also declined more than 2%. On the other hand, Rainbow Robotics rose 4.53%.
