Introduction to the Technology and Excellence of Luminescent and Non-Luminescent Materials
Solus Advanced Materials will participate in the '2024 Korea Display Industry Exhibition' ('K-Display 2024'), held from the 14th to the 16th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, showcasing its manufacturing technology for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display materials.
At this exhibition, Solus Advanced Materials will display its unique manufacturing technologies for Hole Blocking Layer (HBL), Electron Transporting Layer (ETL), and Green Phosphorescent Host materials. Additionally, OLED devices that emit light by depositing organic materials on device substrates and connecting electrodes will also be exhibited.
Solus Advanced Materials plans to highlight the technology and research achievements of its key products. Its OLED display material portfolio covers both emissive and non-emissive materials, including emissive materials such as ▲HBL ▲ETL ▲Hole Transporting Layer (HTL) ▲Capping Layer (CPL) ▲Green Phosphorescent Host, as well as non-emissive materials like ▲Filler ▲Thin Film Encapsulation (TFE).
Among these, one of the flagship products, HBL, is a common layer through which current moves for OLED emission. Leveraging over 10 years of accumulated development and manufacturing know-how, it improves efficiency and lifespan. Similarly, ETL, also a common layer, applies power consumption reduction technologies to mass-produce various customized products for clients.
The Green Phosphorescent Host is one of the core materials in the emissive layer that produces light in OLEDs. Solus Advanced Materials is developing long-life, high-efficiency products and preparing for mass production. Through this new Green Phosphorescent Host material, the company plans to expand its business scope from common layers to the emissive layer, which has a larger market size.
In addition, non-emissive materials such as TFE and fillers produced by its subsidiary Solus I-Tech, completed last year, will also be exhibited. The filler serves as an adhesive material between the OLED panel and the color filter, successfully minimizing optical loss through high-refractive-index materials. TFE, mainly used in smartphone LCD screens, applies low-dielectric properties to enhance touch precision.
Kim Tae-hyung, CEO of Solus Advanced Materials, said, "We are pleased to have the opportunity to showcase and explain our OLED display material manufacturing technologies to industry stakeholders, including customers and partners, through participation in the '2024 Korea Display Industry Exhibition.' We will actively expand our product portfolio by continuously introducing new materials such as the Green Phosphorescent Host, as well as our existing flagship products, to develop and mass-produce various OLED materials."
Meanwhile, the 23rd '2024 Korea Display Industry Exhibition,' which began in 2001, is the only specialized display exhibition in Korea representing the display industry. It is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Display Industry Association.
