Pukyong National University dispatched five members of the PKNU Student Volunteer Corps, who carried out medical assistance and talent donation volunteer activities at the Cheong Aek Health Center and Dankuo Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for one week starting from July 14.

This joint medical volunteer activity was organized to achieve the goals of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) in connection with the ongoing efforts of the volunteer corps to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs).

The volunteer corps supported medical-related volunteer activities such as emergency treatment and CPR education support, donation of medicines, and assistance with medical activities. Additionally, they conducted separate programs to promote K-Culture, including art education, sports activities, traditional Korean games, and singing K-Pop together with children and adolescents at the health center and hospital.

Kim Seungmin, the representative student of the volunteer corps (senior, Department of Economics), who participated in the volunteer activity, said, "Through this experience, I was able to see a wider world and develop a deeper heart. I will continue to communicate and cooperate with more people and grow further."

A Pukyong National University official stated, "This medical volunteer experience must have greatly contributed to the holistic growth of our students, including awareness of human dignity and the cultivation of a spirit of service," and added, "We will continue to promote overseas medical volunteer activities together with the Busan People Lee Taeseok Memorial Association."
