Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) is conducting a design preference survey until the 16th of this month to encourage residents' interest and participation in the Gangbuk-gu new government building construction project.
The Gangbuk-gu new government building is planned to begin construction in 2026 and be completed in 2028. It is currently undergoing related procedures, including an international design competition, and will be built as an administrative complex town combining public offices and resident convenience facilities.
The district will survey residents' preferences on the five works selected for the second round of the international design competition, which passed the first round, and will strive to actively reflect residents' opinions and interests in the project promotion process.
Anyone interested in Gangbuk-gu administration can participate in this preference survey through Seoul's 'mVoting' platform or via bulletin boards in the lobbies of the district office and 13 community service centers.
The district plans to randomly select 30 participants who correctly guess the winning design and attach tiles inscribed with their names and phrases on a part of the wall inside the new government building. Winners will be notified individually by the end of August.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee stated, "The Gangbuk-gu new government building will consolidate the district offices, which are currently dispersed in Suyu, Mia, Beondong, and other areas causing significant inconvenience to residents, into one location to improve administrative efficiency and resident convenience. Upon completion, it will greatly contribute to the landscape change of the Suyu commercial district and the revitalization of the local economy." She added, "We ask for the residents' great interest in the Gangbuk-gu new government building, which will become a landmark in the northeastern area."
