LG Uplus announced on the 13th that it will introduce the 'IXI Photo Booth,' which creates AI profile photos with a Liberation Day concept, at the LG Uplus Dohwa-dong Gongdeok Station branch in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

The IXI Photo Booth is an AI photo studio where a single photo taken on-site is transformed into a profile picture according to various concepts by LG Uplus's proprietary AI technology, 'IXI.' After launching with a basic profile in May, the booth has continuously expanded its concepts to include two types of athletes and celebrities on the red carpet.

This time, to commemorate Liberation Day, a concept featuring the 'Korean Liberation Army Signed Taegukgi,' designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 389, has been added as the background. When visitors take a photo at the IXI Photo Booth, men’s images are converted into black-and-white photos wearing black suits, and women’s images into black-and-white photos wearing white hanbok, with the Taegukgi background. The AI profile photo is produced in just over one minute. Photos can be printed on-site or downloaded via smartphone.

LG Uplus explained that it had been operating the IXI Photo Booth on a trial basis for internal employees at its Yongsan headquarters since May, and due to positive responses, it decided to hold events for the public as well. At the end of the same month, the IXI Photo Booth was introduced externally for the first time at the 'Youth Festival' booth set up at Sungkyunkwan University to coincide with the university festival season. Last week, the IXI Photo experience was also available at the 'Creator Media Industry Expo in Incheon,' a leading domestic event for the creative media industry.

Meanwhile, LG Uplus has been conducting campaigns to honor Liberation Day every year. Since 2020, it has been running the 'Not an Ordinary Day' campaign for four years, aiming to widely publicize lesser-known independence activists who devoted themselves to Korea’s liberation and to remember history.

Kim Hee-jin, head of LG Uplus’s Integrated Brand Marketing Team, said, "Beyond the tradition of families raising the Taegukgi flag on Liberation Day, this year we introduced a new way to commemorate liberation through AI profile photos by presenting this IXI Photo Booth concept to customers. We will continue to create events with the purpose of reminding people that the everyday life we enjoy is never to be taken for granted."
