"Refusing to Repay 37 Million Won"... T-ara's Areum Sent to Prosecution Without Detention

Victims "Did Not Repay After Borrowing Money"

Former member of the girl group 'T-ara,' Lee Areum, has been referred to the prosecution on charges of borrowing tens of millions of won from acquaintances and failing to repay the money.

On the 12th, the Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that Lee was sent to the prosecution without detention at the end of last month on suspicion of fraud.

Lee is accused of borrowing approximately 37 million won from three acquaintances, including her fans, and not repaying it.

The victims reportedly claim that "Lee borrowed the money citing personal reasons involving her boyfriend and has not repaid it to this day." They filed complaints with the police consecutively from March to May.

The police also believe that Lee's boyfriend, Mr. A, extorted some amount from the victims and referred him to the prosecution together. Lee largely admitted to the charges during the police investigation, but Mr. A is said to have denied them.

Lee joined the girl group T-ara in 2012 and was active until she left the team in 2013. She later married a businessman two years her senior in 2019 and has two sons. However, she announced both her divorce and remarriage last year.
