When asked about the reasons why the prosecution does not receive public trust and possible solutions, he said, "Ultimately, I think the right path is for each member of the prosecution to carry out their fundamental role with a sense of mission. If I take office, I will strive to make that happen."

In response to a question about his feelings on his first day at work, he added, "I feel a heavy sense of responsibility, and I am also well aware that the public is watching the hearing process. Since today is my first day, I will sincerely prepare for the hearing going forward."

Regarding major issues such as the reinstatement of former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, investigations related to First Lady Kim Keon-hee, and internal conflicts within the prosecution, he avoided direct comments. He said, "Since specific cases are ongoing, it is not appropriate for me, as a public office candidate, to comment on the cases. If I take office as Prosecutor General, I will address them then."

Earlier, Jeong Jin-seok, Chief of Staff to the President, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the afternoon of the previous day and announced that President Yoon Seok-yeol had nominated Shim as the next candidate for Prosecutor General, stating, "We judged that he is the right person to lead the prosecution organization stably in the future and to properly perform the prosecution's fundamental roles of upholding the Constitution, the rule of law, and protecting the people."
