"Zero Safety Accidents"... Hapcheon-gun Conducts Summer Water Activity Safety Inspections

Hapcheon County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 12th that, in response to a recent surge in water recreation visitors due to the heatwave, a special inspection team led by Deputy County Governor Lee Jaechul was organized to conduct on-site safety inspections to prevent water-related accidents.

Lee Jaecheol, Deputy Governor of Hapcheon County, is conducting a safety inspection for water play during the summer season.

This inspection targeted five popular water recreation management areas and one water leisure business site during the peak summer season. The main inspection items included: checking the working status of water safety management personnel; verifying the management status of essential safety equipment such as lifebuoys, life jackets, and rescue stations; and removing risk factors at water recreation management areas and water leisure business sites. The focus was on minimizing casualties.

For the summer of 2024, Hapcheon County has maintained a constant safety management system by refurbishing safety facilities at 14 water recreation management areas within the county and deploying 28 water safety management personnel. In addition, for water leisure business sites, safety measures have been strengthened through joint safety inspections with relevant agencies such as Gyeongnam Province and the Coast Guard, making every effort to prevent water safety accidents.

The Hapcheon County Serious Accident Prevention Team also participated in this on-site inspection, checking the health status of water safety management personnel to prevent heat-related illnesses. They provided education on the three key rules of supplying water, shade, and rest; advised against prolonged outdoor work during heatwave advisories; and included guidelines such as taking 10-15 minute breaks every hour to prevent heat-related illnesses among outdoor workers.

Deputy County Governor Lee emphasized, "With the peak summer season and vacation period in full swing, many water recreation and water leisure visitors are coming to Hapcheon County. We urge thorough safety management so that all visitors can enjoy a safe and pleasant holiday."
