Selected 11 Action Tasks Including Ensuring Fairness in Unfair Orders and Promotions
“Mr. ○○ does well when asked, but why does Ms. △△ act like that?”, “Why does Mr. ○○ take vacation so often?”
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) has taken steps to eradicate practices such as insulting remarks, unjust restrictions on legitimate vacation use, and improper solicitations, aiming to foster an honest public service culture. To achieve this goal, the district selected the ‘11 Action Tasks for All Employees to Create a Clean Gangseo’ and announced the launch of a full-staff action campaign.
The action tasks were selected through a survey conducted by the ‘Gangseo-gu Innovation Junior Board,’ a group composed of MZ generation public officials. They categorized issues undermining internal integrity and power abuse, selecting the top 11 tasks from 120 opinions.
The selected tasks range from prohibiting unfair orders and personal errands to ensuring fairness in performance evaluations, promotions, and transfers, as well as refraining from giving others a hard time for taking vacation. Notably, the tasks emphasize mutual respect among employees, including the use of polite language and restraint from intimidating behaviors such as criticism.
The district will share these integrity tasks with all employees, hold a pledge ceremony, and promote the action campaign. Additionally, self-assessments on power abuse will be conducted, and anti-power abuse and anti-corruption training will be provided to senior public officials to cultivate a respectful organizational culture.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon stated, “Integrity does not simply mean preventing corruption but also includes improving unreasonable cultures within the organization,” adding, “These action tasks will serve as a stepping stone for positive change within the organization.”
Meanwhile, to establish an honest organizational culture, the district is implementing various policies such as ▲promoting one integrity policy per department ▲integrity relay broadcasts ▲Integrity Communication Day and operation of integrity communication channels ▲and appointing integrity leaders in each department.
