Personal Information Commission to Hold Campaign at Seoul Station on the 12th
Guidance on Practical Measures for Travelers...Caution Advised
On the 12th, the Personal Information Protection Commission held a 'Summer Vacation Personal Information Protection Campaign' targeting travelers around Seoul Station to mark the 4th anniversary of the commission's launch and the summer vacation season.
This campaign was organized to raise awareness about the frequent exposure of personal information during the summer vacation season and to provide guidance on simple personal information protection methods that can be practiced in daily life.
The campaign consisted of two activities: an OX quiz to learn about personal information protection rules to be mindful of during the vacation season, and a roulette event. Participants received goods featuring the Personal Information Protection Commission’s character 'Lock(Lock)star' (such as eco bags and keyrings) as prizes. Additionally, a photo booth was operated to capture the excitement of travel.
The Personal Information Protection Commission advised travelers to follow the personal information protection practices below and urged caution.
① When posting travel reviews or information online, delete personal information before posting ② Be cautious of phishing messages and emails impersonating reservation sites ③ Do not access suspicious internet addresses (URLs) or install suspicious applications ④ Minimize personal information such as phone numbers or addresses on luggage name tags ⑤ Be cautious when using free Wi-Fi at travel destinations.
These practices can also be found on the Personal Information Protection Commission’s social media channels such as YouTube and Instagram.
