Survey Results Show 85% (168 People) Satisfaction with Physical Examinations and 89% (179 People) Satisfaction with Dedicated Nurse Health Management Services
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that 89% of respondents were satisfied with the ‘Seongdong-type Dedicated Nurse Health Management Service for Daycare Centers’ conducted for a total of 77 daycare centers in the area during the first half of the year to create a safe childcare environment.
According to Article 10 of the Enforcement Rules of the Infant Care Act, daycare centers with 100 or more infants and toddlers are required to have nurses (assistants) on staff, excluding those with fewer children.
Accordingly, Seongdong-gu has been assigning dedicated nurses to daycare centers with fewer than 100 infants and toddlers since last year to eliminate blind spots in health services for young children. Starting this year, the number of visits by dedicated nurses has increased from once a year to twice a year, providing more thorough and high-quality health management services for infants and toddlers.
In March, two dedicated nurses with more than two years of clinical experience were hired and given preliminary training. From April to July, the dedicated nurses visited a total of 77 daycare centers in the area and completed health management services.
For 2,266 infants and toddlers, services included ▲ health and developmental status measurement ▲ infectious disease management and prevention education ▲ vision tests and eye health education ▲ oral hygiene education. Among 337 cases where issues such as vision deterioration, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, dental caries, and malocclusion were found during physical examinations, guidance was provided to visit hospitals for detailed examinations to enable early treatment.
For 272 staff members, training was conducted to prevent safety accidents that may occur in daycare centers, including ▲ first aid training ▲ first aid kit inspection and management education ▲ sudden infant death syndrome prevention education.
A survey conducted with 202 parents and childcare staff showed that 85% (168 people) were satisfied with the physical and vision tests, and 89% (179 people) were satisfied with the health management services provided by the dedicated nurses.
Positive feedback included appreciation for the nurses’ considerate approach to avoid causing discomfort to infants, thorough and professional individual health assessments, and education conducted at the children’s eye level.
The second half health management service will be actively promoted starting August 13. Dedicated nurses will conduct comparative examinations of the health and developmental status of infants and toddlers who were examined in the first half, provide health management education for infants and toddlers, and offer safety childcare consultations for staff.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “Since both parents and childcare staff have shown high satisfaction with the ‘Dedicated Nurse Health Management Service for Daycare Centers,’ we will strive even harder to eliminate blind spots in infant and toddler health management. We will continue to make meticulous efforts to ensure a safe and reliable childcare environment without gaps.”
