Gwanak-gu 'Spot Gallery' 2nd Exhibition... Art Infuses Everyday Life

Exhibition of 24 Works by 8 Artists in 4 Local Spaces Until the 29th

Gwanak-gu 'Spot Gallery' 2nd Exhibition... Art Infuses Everyday Life

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will hold the "Spot Gallery 2nd Exhibition," displaying works by eight local artists in various spaces closely connected to residents' daily lives until the 29th.

The "Spot Gallery Project" is a resident-proposed initiative aimed at creating galleries within everyday spaces by linking local artists with venues. It has been promoted as a public-private cooperation task under the 8th local government administration this year.

The project provides artists with opportunities for creative activities, offers specialized promotion to participating exhibition spaces to potentially increase sales, and allows residents to enjoy cultural arts in their daily lives, achieving a triple benefit.

The first Spot Gallery exhibition was held from May to June, involving four local businesses (▲Cafe On the Lake ▲Yongma Coffee ▲Designerly Cafe ▲Small Quotation Dorimcheon Branch).

After the first exhibition, a satisfaction survey among participating spaces showed an overwhelmingly positive response, with all respondents expressing willingness to participate again.

Additionally, many residents showed interest in the artworks, and the exhibitions enhanced the interior aesthetics and created a sophisticated atmosphere that helped with promotion. There was also feedback about discovering new potential for the spaces.

The second exhibition runs until the 29th and features four new local venues (▲Nanhyang-dong Cafe Araero ▲Euncheon-dong Attract Coffee ▲Cheongnyong-dong Table 1629 ▲Nakseongdae-dong Enzo Pasta).

These spaces showcase high-quality works by eight artists (Kim In-seo, Shim Hyo-sun, Kim Young-mi, Choi Yeon-jae, Park Gwi-soo, Shin Jae-eun, Kim So-jung, Jeon Young-jin). The district matched artworks to suit each space, adding enjoyment for residents viewing the pieces.

Visitors can purchase their favorite artworks directly on-site after viewing, and special events are prepared for residents visiting the spaces.

One such event is the "Spot Gallery Challenge SNS Hashtag Event." By posting a photo of the space and artwork, including required hashtags and a brief review on their personal Instagram, and submitting via a Naver form, participants have a chance to be among 120 winners who will receive a "10,000 KRW voucher" usable at the venues.

Meanwhile, the third exhibition is scheduled to run from September 3 to October 31. In December, an end-of-year exhibition will be held at Gwanak-gu Office's "Gallery Gwanak," where works by all 24 artists who participated in this year's Spot Gallery project can be viewed in one place.

Mayor Park Jun-hee of Gwanak-gu stated, "Being able to enjoy artworks close to daily life increases opportunities for residents to engage with culture and arts, while supporting local cultural arts and revitalizing commercial districts, making this a highly impactful project where culture and economy grow together. We will continue to promote various projects to ensure the happiness of all 500,000 residents."
