Use of Upcycled Reusable Fueling Gloves Instead of Disposable Plastic Gloves at Gas Stations
S-OIL to Hold Instagram Comment Event Until August 31
S-OIL (CEO: Anwar Al Hejazi) is conducting the 'GoodLOVES (Good + Gloves) Campaign' by collecting disposable plastic gloves that are briefly used and discarded at self-service gas stations.
This campaign aims to produce and distribute reusable fueling gloves through upcycling and to encourage the reduction of single-use products.
'GoodLOVES' is a name that combines 'Good' and 'Loves' to express a good heart for the planet, and 'Gloves' meaning gloves.
According to Greenpeace, South Korea's annual usage of disposable plastic bags is 23.5 billion, or 460 per person, which is among the highest in the world.
S-OIL, inspired by the fact that disposable plastic gloves are carelessly thrown away at self-service gas stations, installed a dedicated collection box on a trial basis at the Yeomni-dong gas station in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The collected plastic gloves are reprocessed into lightweight and durable fabric using thermal compression techniques and turned into gloves specially designed for self-service fueling. The pouches for storing the gloves are also made by upcycling discarded gas station banners.
S-OIL plans to release a video on August 13 on YouTube and Instagram, featuring the purpose, process, and real feedback from participating customers in the GoodLOVES campaign.
In addition, from August 13 to August 31, customers can participate in S-OIL's upcycled fueling glove giveaway event by leaving comments on YouTube and Instagram.
An S-OIL representative stated, "We hope that the GoodLOVES campaign will help reduce the use of disposable products and spread as a social campaign for the planet and the environment."
