Naver Achieves Record Performance with Platform, Commerce, and Fintech Growth... Q2 Revenue Hits 2.6105 Trillion KRW

Naver announced on the 9th that its consolidated sales for the second quarter of this year reached 2.6105 trillion KRW, an 8.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit recorded 472.7 billion KRW, up 26.8%.


The quarterly sales growth was driven by balanced growth across major business sectors such as Search Platform, Commerce, and Fintech, along with improved performance in the Cloud sector. Sales by business segment were: Search Platform 978.4 billion KRW, Commerce 719.0 billion KRW, Fintech 368.5 billion KRW, Content 420.0 billion KRW, and Cloud 124.6 billion KRW.


Sales in the Search Platform segment increased by 7.5% year-on-year to 978.4 billion KRW, thanks to product improvements such as Place Ads and Search Ads and enhanced targeting capabilities. Naver plans to focus on extending user dwell time and creating new revenue streams based on hyper-personalization technology.


The Commerce segment grew 13.6% year-on-year to 719.0 billion KRW, supported by increased usage of delivery guarantee and brand solutions, as well as continued growth of the limited-edition trading platform KREAM. Naver’s total commerce transaction volume reached 12.3 trillion KRW, a 4.1% increase compared to the same period last year. The Naver Plus Membership has strengthened practical value for users, contributing to the expansion of loyal customers.


In the second quarter, Naver Pay’s payment amount led an 8.5% growth in the Fintech sector as the proportion of external payments exceeded 50% of total payments for the first time ever.


The Content segment recorded 420.0 billion KRW, a slight decrease of 0.1% year-on-year. On a constant currency basis, excluding effects such as exchange rate fluctuations, global webtoon sales grew 11.1% year-on-year. In particular, the Japan region continues steady growth, achieving a record high monthly paying user count (MPU).


The Cloud segment increased 19.2% year-on-year, driven by revenue from artificial intelligence (AI)-related sales. Naver has also started a digital twin platform construction project in Saudi Arabia.


Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver, stated, "We have strengthened platform capabilities by integrating core competencies such as AI, data, and search to provide differentiated experiences to partners within the Naver ecosystem, and we have confirmed initial results in monetization. In the second half of the year, we will accelerate the enhancement of products and platform capabilities in core businesses using AI and data, and focus on proactively discovering new business opportunities based on technology."
