Mercedes Electric Car-Damaged Apartment Finds Mercedes Promotional Materials 'Offensive'
Residents Reportedly Outraged
Promotional materials offering discounts on Mercedes-Benz vehicles were posted in an apartment complex that suffered significant damage from a Mercedes-Benz electric car fire, sparking outrage among residents.
According to residents of the apartment on the 8th, some elevator entrances in the complex had promotional flyers titled "Electric Vehicle Fire Support Promotion" attached.
The flyer stated, "We extend our condolences to those who suffered total loss due to electric vehicle fire accidents and provide information on support promotions available when purchasing a new Mercedes-Benz vehicle."
It also included the name and personal mobile phone number of the individual claiming to be an official Mercedes-Benz dealer. The promotion details included an additional 2% discount on Mercedes-Benz purchases, guidance on procedures for disposing of total loss vehicles, and a 7% refund on acquisition tax. Notably, it mentioned "a vehicle fire extinguisher will be provided upon delivery." As this information became known among residents, they reportedly became very angry.
Meanwhile, the fire occurred on the 1st in the underground first-floor parking lot of an apartment in Cheongna International City, Seo-gu, Incheon, originating from a Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan electric vehicle. The fire caused 23 residents and others to inhale smoke and be transported to hospitals, and about 140 vehicles were either burned or scorched. The apartment complex experienced power and water supply outages, causing significant inconvenience to residents.
