Gyeryong City and Buyeo County Selected for Second Round of School Complex Facility Contest

322 Billion Won Supported Out of Total 64.4 Billion Won Project Cost... Eight Projects to Be Promoted in the Province

Gyeryong City and Buyeo County in Chungnam have been selected for the second round of the Ministry of Education's school complex facility project. As a result, a total of eight school complex facility projects will be promoted in Chungnam.

According to the Chungnam Office of Education on the 8th, 28 projects nationwide applied for the second round of the Ministry of Education's school complex facility project, and 20 projects were finally selected.

In Chungnam, one project from Gyeryong City and two projects from Buyeo County were submitted, and two of them were selected, receiving 32.2 billion won out of the total project cost of 64.4 billion won.

In the case of Gyeryong City, plans are in place to install a survival swimming pool, an underground public parking lot, and a GX (group exercise) room at Eomsa Elementary School.

Buyeo County plans to build the Buyeo Bandabi National Sports Center, equipped with a swimming pool, a multipurpose gymnasium, and a fitness center at the Buyeo Culture and Arts Education Complex Town site.

The Ministry of Education is supporting school complex facility projects that include swimming pools and gymnasiums, as well as AI-based digital labs, which can be used by both students and local residents.

Chungnam aims to install at least one such facility in every city and county by 2027. So far, six regions?Cheonan, Hongseong, Seosan, Boryeong, Seocheon, and Gongju?have been selected and are undergoing preliminary feasibility assessments and public architecture reviews.

An official from the Office of Education said, "In the case of one project in Buyeo, it was not selected because it is not adjacent to a school, and priority is being given to installing one project per region. We will do our best to successfully promote the selected projects to improve living conditions and reduce educational and cultural disparities between regions."
