Gwangjin-gu Recruiting Restaurants to Participate in 'Donghaeng Sikdang' for Low-Income Seniors

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is recruiting restaurants to participate in the operation of the ‘Donghaeng Restaurant’ to promote the health of elderly people at risk of food insecurity.

Donghaeng Restaurant is a representative policy supporting the vulnerable by designating nearby general restaurants as meal service locations where elderly residents can choose one meal per day from their desired menu. The district plans to select 50 low-income elderly people aged 60 or older who wish to use Donghaeng Restaurant and operate the program from September to the end of the year.

Prior to this, restaurants in the area are being recruited to participate in Donghaeng Restaurant. Restaurants located in areas easily accessible to the elderly and registered as general restaurants can apply to join Donghaeng Restaurant.

Restaurants wishing to participate should prepare documents such as the application form and business registration certificate and visit the local community service center. For details on operation methods, compliance requirements, and other information, inquiries can be made to the Gwangjin-gu Office Senior Welfare Division.

Meanwhile, after completing the recruitment of Donghaeng Restaurants, the district will inform each eligible elderly person of their designated restaurant. Eligible seniors can use Donghaeng Restaurant for one meal a day and pay using the meal card (voucher) they receive.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We expect that operating Donghaeng Restaurant will not only improve the health of low-income elderly but also be effective in caring for vulnerable groups through welfare checks.” He added, “We hope many restaurants will show interest and participate in the recruitment of Donghaeng Restaurant, which can illuminate welfare blind spots and contribute to regional coexistence.”
