On the 6th, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority conducted safety training for employees working at Geobukseom Marina and Jebu Marina at the Gyeonggi Marine Safety Experience Center to prevent maritime safety accidents.
The training was organized to prevent safety accidents that may occur at sea and to develop the ability to respond in emergency situations.
The training began with survival swimming techniques such as water adaptation, breathing methods, and life jacket wearing methods to stay afloat with minimal energy and survive as long as possible in case of maritime distress. It also included practical training simulating real situations, such as escaping using emergency escape ladders in case of ship sinking, boarding life rafts, sending distress signals, and rescuing drowning victims.
Additionally, the importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in cardiac arrest situations, how to perform it, and the use of AEDs were also taught.
Kim Seok-gu, President of Pyeongtaek Port Authority, stated, "As Pyeongtaek Port Authority promotes various marine leisure projects utilizing the Gyeonggi sea, including marina management and operation, the need for safety accident prevention and response capabilities among employees and customers is increasing. We will do our best to prevent safety accidents by regularizing disaster safety training so that the safety management capabilities of all employees, including marina staff, can be internalized."
Pyeongtaek Port Authority is expanding the scope of marine leisure tourism business by managing and operating Geobukseom Marina in Siheung City following Jebu Marina in Hwaseong.
