Gyeonggi Province will invest 239 billion KRW in the newly designated national fishing ports of Gimpo Daemyeong Port, Ansan Bangameori Port, and Hwaseong Jeongok Port and Jebu Port.
Gyeonggi Province plans to improve the functions of these three national fishing ports and expand facilities by constructing breakwaters, enhance their role as a center for maritime traffic in the West Sea, and strengthen marine tourism and cultural functions to develop them as hubs of the fishing village economy.
Gong Jeongsik, Director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With the selection of these national fishing ports, we will secure new growth engines for fishing village economic revitalization beyond the functions of fisheries and marine leisure and tourism. We will actively promote projects that breathe new life into fishing villages through port development tailored to regional characteristics amid the crisis of fishing village extinction."
Gyeonggi Province is also carrying out regeneration and development projects for two local fishing ports, including Ansan Tando Port.
In particular, Ansan Tando Port is undergoing a large-scale marine leisure tourism infrastructure development project, aiming for completion by the end of this year. Since 2014, a total budget of 22.6 billion KRW has been invested to reclaim an 81,000㎡ site, and facilities such as yacht land mooring, a marine leisure R&D center, and marine healing are being established to build marine tourism infrastructure.
