Parking Fees Reduced at Seohee and Taxi Shelter Lots

Gyeonggi-do Icheon City has launched a public parking lot promotion campaign to alleviate parking difficulties in alleyways and ensure pedestrian safety.

The city announced on the 8th that on the 7th, to promote the use of off-street public parking lots, a public parking lot promotion campaign was held near Manghyunsan, in densely populated residential areas along the roadside, at the Fountain Five-way Intersection, and around Seohui Parking Lot, with the participation of related officials and members of local organizations.

This promotion campaign was organized to increase the low usage rate of public parking lots and to reduce the deterioration of living environments and pedestrian accidents caused by illegal parking in alleyways.

Previously, the city amended ordinances to downgrade two public parking lots, Seohui Parking Lot and Taxi Shelter Parking Lot, which had low usage rates, by one grade each. Accordingly, from last month, the monthly subscription fee for Seohui Parking Lot was reduced from 70,000 KRW to 60,000 KRW, and the Taxi Shelter Parking Lot fee was lowered from 60,000 KRW to 40,000 KRW. Fees are discounted by 50% for recipients of livelihood benefits, lower-income groups, families with two or more children, compact car owners, and drivers aged 65 or older.

In addition, the city plans to expand six more public parking lots to resolve citizens' parking inconveniences. Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, stated, "We will continue to assess the operation status of existing parking lots to provide demand-centered parking convenience services and make our best efforts to improve the parking environment."
